Saint Paul Saints

Last night, Saturday, August 16th Lance and I went to watch my favorite sports team the Saint Paul Saints. The Saints played Wichita and won 4-0.

The Saint Paul Saints are a AA baseball team who focus on having fun with the fans as much as winning games and playing baseball.

Families and kids are the main focus of the games which involve the entire crowd which is why the games are almost always sold out.

Most of the fans tailgate in the parking lot before entering the stadium which is located next to the Minnesota State Fair Grounds. On entering the stadium, you have many different choices of food than just the usual baseball food fare. The Saints offer everything from Turkey legs to cheese curds and of course the classic hot dog is available.

The fans can choose from sitting in the baseball stands (highest price at $12), bleacher seats ($8 dollars), the showboat, which is like a booze cruise that does not move, and two hot tubs that you can choose to reserve and watch the game from.

What I love about the games is that they are super interactive...every time teams change out on the field they bring kids and adults out to play games on the sidelines. And my ultimate favorite is the Mascot which I can't keep my eyes off of.....she is a pink pig and her name is Mudonna. I asked if she would kiss Lance with her snout and she obliged. There are so many characters at these games including a real nun that gives massages to a hairdresser that walks around and gives Mohawks....never a dull moment at the Saint Paul Saints!!!

Matts Bar: Home of the "Juicy Lucy"

Maryland has the battle of the best crab cake, Chicago has the battle of the best pizza, Texas has the battle of the best bbq.....Minneapolis is known for the "Juicy Lucy".

Many bar/restuarants try to self-proclaim the title of the best Juicy Lucy but Matt's Bar is the only restaurant in town that really holds the prize for the best Juicy Lucy. For all that are not sure what exactly a Juicy Lucy is well here you go: two beef patties that is filled (like a jelly donut) with american cheese. After you order this sinfully delicous hamburger, you have to wait a few minutes for the Lucy to cool before eating....if you decide you cant wait (and you will make this mistake only once) you will be burned by the cheese.

The menu is simple, the ambiance has not changed from the 70's, the service is not the greatest, but the small bar is packed most nights for all awaiting to enjoy this Minnesota tradition.

Twin Cities River Rats

Last night Thursday, August 15th Lance, Harry and I all went to the Twin Cities River Rats show. Our neighbor Tom, who has been back from his first year of college, is a performer in the show and asked us to come watch him. The show starts at 7:30 every Thursday night in the summer and lasts for about an hour. Lance and I picked up a pizza, grabbed our collapsible chairs and parked a seat on the grass to watch the free show. Here are some pictures:
